Team contests

Can we choose which members we'll team up or system automatically assigns this?

I prefer second option.

i think that second option is better cuz it's not fair if in one team would be all best coders ...

I agree. The second option would be better ...

As for now these are the rules:

- Teams must have >= 3 and <= 5 members
- Each member must have solved at least 10 problems on the training part.
- Each team will have a captain (the one that created the team) and the prizes will be sent to him. So naturally, the team should be from the same location, preferably people that know each-other.

I think that the second option is better, too.

i don't agree that second option is better...i haven't seen yet any team contest where you have "unknown" team mates..and first option is better too, because of same location of team members..

Even if your team isn't from the same city and you win the prize, captain of the team could send the prize to the other team members by post.

I think the second option is a pretty cool idea. Some people might be interested but not know at least two other in their area/country. Plus we get to meet other programmers from different countries and team up for a common goal.

The second idea will be awesome, but I think that competing with an unknown is difficult, but it will be really fun :)

Yeah, but we could talk using Msn Messenger , Skype, G-Talk...

or admin could make chat for teams ... :P

At least I could make private discussion boards for each team

just an idea, to combine both options, so everyone register for contest, and when somebody makes team, he can invite people, and those who don't get invited make new teams automatically random ...

I have two questions, will there be real time results and will it be ACM like or normal ?

Moderators can not compete, since they will know the problems in advance.

and what do you mean by "Top 3 solutions for each problem will count" ?

It says only top solution will count. If two members of the team submit solution for the same problem, only the better score will count.
